On the Road (March 2003, From the Dandelion Studios Website)
Random Drive on a Sunny Day
Sometimes the day-to-day stircraziness seems as oppressive as the late February grey, and the days just seem to drag by. This Winter has been a particularly relentless one, with enough cold and wet and snow to seemingly last three seasons. Spirits darken in these times and hope can seem dim and distant.
And so, when the first truly springlike day arrived I knew that it was time to embrace the change of seasons with open arms. Time for a random road trip! From our location, there are basically five major highways leading away, and Gynn and I decided that we didn’t want to head North, so that left us with four. Out came the trusty household caltrop (four-sided die) and with fate left to chance we found ourselves heading west on I-78, listening to Stonewall Dobbs singing his unique mix of filk/traditional/rebel songs as we chatted about plans for the Dandelion Studios website.
We had lunch in Clinton, New Jersey, wandered around on the back roads and explored an old graveyard. We took some pictures and checked out a couple of collectibles shops. Mostly, we just enjoyed the fresh air and each other’s company and looked forward to more time in the outdoors as the weather gets nicer. It was a refreshing time, a sort of early Spring cleaning for the soul, and I’d recommend it to everyone who’s had enough of winter. Some things are just better left to chance.
See you on the road!
