Principal Holding: The port city of Kassovar north of Cornion along the coast, and the large but
mostly wilderness Lokram County that stretches east from Kassovar into the Lokram
Woods.
Additional Holdings: The border settlements of West Reach and Edgewood along the Western
Frontier. Although their land stretches the width of Ferstaal, they are, by treaty, forbidden
from exercising control over the Great North Road which runs from Cornion to
Darkwaters. Instead this power is granted specifically to House Slade, a situation
which has been a traditional thorn in the side of the leaders of House Kassof.

Outlook: House Kassof ruled Ferstaal, but only during the reign of a single King, Deitrich I,
whose disputed reign led into the Second Civil War. After bitter years of fighting against a
a coalition led by House Salkesson, Kassof agreed to the settlement that put a Vasille King on
the throne. Kassof's traditional ally in that fight had been House Hestor. They had also
at the time led the forces of House Slade into battle, but that was more a matter of bullying
and coercion on the part of Kassof than of any true alliance. Now many in House Kassof
long for their chance to lead Ferstaal, and they bristle at the upstart nobles of House
Slade who flaunt their independence from Kassof at every opportunity. In recent times,
House Kassof has moved toward a mending of ways with their historical foe, House Salkesson.

Kassof controls a lot of land, and a lot of material wealth. They have an excellent trading port,
and the combination has made them very rich. They also have very strong ties to the Church,
which has noted a great number of sacred locations on Kassof lands. The Lokram Woods
are said to be very powerful in spirit magic, and the Church maintains a strong presence
in Kassof territory, including their University, which is located just west of Kassovar at Haven, on
north shore of Lake Varn.

House Kassof's relationship with the Guild is more complex. Officially, they support the Church
in its ongoing dispute with the Guild, but there is a faction among House Kassof, a contingent
who is based in Kassovar and have benefited from overseas trade, that would prefer to see
a better working relationship with the Guild. They fear that House Kassof's economic
advantages could be lost if other houses take advantage of the Guild's bold new
proposition: The railroad.
