Seasons of Intrigue

Ferstaal: Seasons of Intrigue is an online roleplaying game of courtly intrigue, romance, betrayal, and diplomacy set in a small kingdom called Ferstaal. Players take the roles of members of the nobility and their staff and attendants as they attempt to advance the cause of their own faction.

The main action of the game takes place on the Ferstaal Community on Livejournal.

Ferstaal is currently under construction. We expect to open the game up to new players on Monday, October 31, 2005.

The kingdom of Ferstaal was one of five kingdoms established following the collapse of the Old Empire, called Hembria in the ancient tongue. At the time of the Great Inundation, a former slave named Armis Staal led a group of survivors across the Iphrien Mountains of northeastern Hembria where they endured many hardships and fought repeated wars with the orcs, trolls, dwarves, and ogres until they were able to found a permanent settlement in the city of Medbobd in a region the local tribes called the Bobd Hills.

Armis Staal was crowned Armis I, King of Ferstaal, and the kingdom grew and prospered under his reign and the reigns of his descendants. Now a thriving merchant nation enjoying a time of peace with its northern neighbors and a period of relative quiet in the constant skirmishes with the tribes along its western frontier, Ferstaal looks to a future bright with hope even as the health of its current king Holfrid II is in decline.

But in the shadowed corners of the Royal Palace old grudges are being rekindled. Alliances are being formed and broken, and plots are being hatched. Forces are gathering inside the kingdom's borders and beyond, while the powerful noble houses maneuver for position. The King has summoned his court for the opening of the Harvest Season. By season's end, the great houses of the kingdom may well find themselves thrown into chaos like the leaves before the Autumn wind.

Choose your faction:

House Vasille - The ruling house confronts the reality of an aging king and an uncertain future.

House Kassof - Only once in history has a Kassof King sat on the throne of Ferstaal. The result was civil war.

House Salkesson - Are they truly ready to make peace with old enemies?

House Emile - With eyes and ears in every corner of Ferstaal, there are few secrets that they cannot uncover.

House Stagg - Beset by inner turmoil and an impoverished peasantry, House Stagg seeks new allies.

House Vitur - Mourning the loss of a beloved Queen, they wonder what will become of their influence with her passing.

House Joffa - Guarding the southern frontier, they stand strong against the enemies that others would rather forget.

House Pax - Bold seafarers, they've turned to the ocean to escape the squabbles of their fellow houses. But can they steer clear of the coming troubles?

House Slade - Upholding the law on the northern frontier, it is the enemies within that they must beware.

House Hestor - Opening the western frontier, they hold the gateway to the future of Ferstaal.

The Church - Are they truly following the will of the spirits? Or has the promise of power and riches begun to guide their hand?

The Guild - Masters of ancient wisdom, the guild has a plans for a glorious future.
