John Higgins John Higgins is a native of Liverpool England and a professional comics artist and illustrator since 1985, employed by the two major publishers, DC Comics, Inc. and Marvel Entertainment Company, as well as the "Independents" such as Dark Horse. His work encompasses all media, depending on the needs of the story and production value: black-and-white line art, full color painting, and computer-generated illustration. John has also "mixed his media" to produce the right effect on the individual project when required. John was awarded the Will Eisner Award for Best Colorist on the, renowned watershed comic, WATCHMEN (DC Comics) and also the respected Harvey Kurtzman Award for Best Colorist for his work on the graphic novel, THE KILLING JOKE (DC Comics). His full-painted WORLD WITHOUT END (DC Comics) won him the UKAK Best
Artist of the Year Award, the highest award in Britain's comics industry,
while John's line art on HELLBLAZER (Vertigo) as a regular artist contributed
to that comic winning numerous awards and continuous praise. Other works from John include: THE THING FROM ANOTHER WORLD for Dark Horse Comics, SCARLET WITCH series for Marvel Comics, JUDGE DREDD for Rebellion Publishers, and BATMAN for DC Comics. He is also kept busy with various book publishing and advertising work. John is also known for his privately commissioned portraits and murals. John Higgins-though by accident of birth a native of Liverpool, England-currently, via good fortune and love, lives and works in Bayonne, NJ with his wife Mindy Newell, an R.N. in the Operating Room at Bayonne Medical Center and a writer for comics (CATWOMAN, WONDER WOMAN, LEGIONNAIRES THREE). John and Mindy met on a staircase in London in 1989 and married in Philadelphia in 2003. They are collaborating on FACES, a series which will appear in 2000 A.D., home to JUDGE DREDD and published in Britain by Rebellion Publishers and software developers.
